Shillong Airport is not in Shillong city: it sits at Umroi in Ri-Bhoi district, roughly 30 km north of Police Bazar. The drive takes about an hour, joining the main Guwahati–Shillong highway (NH6) near Umiam Lake before climbing into the city.
