    About the Guwahati–Cherrapunji route

    Cherrapunji lies about 150 km from Guwahati, beyond Shillong on the southern edge of the Khasi Hills. The drive takes 4.5 to 5 hours via NH6, passing Umiam Lake and Shillong before climbing onto the Sohra plateau.

    Booking a through-cab from Guwahati saves you changing vehicles in Shillong and lets you add a quick Umiam Lake or Shillong viewpoint stop on the way. Many travellers heading straight for the Cherrapunji waterfalls and root bridges prefer this direct transfer.
