Overview
About Kshaid Langshiang Waterfalls
Langshiang Falls is a plunge waterfall on the Kynshi River near Sangriang village in West Khasi Hills, about 24 km from Nongstoin and some 10 km from Nongkhnum River Island. It forms where two streams of the Kynshi come together, and the water drops into a deep, forested gorge. A local name, Kshaid Ur-Nar, is also recorded. The height is commonly quoted as about 337 m (1,106 ft), which would place it among India's tallest waterfalls, but this figure has not been confirmed and lower numbers also appear. What is clear is that it is a high, single-drop fall best seen from a distance, with Mawpon village often named as the best viewpoint. The surrounding Langchong area has other falls, including Kshaid Chong and Wei Spi, the latter feeding a pool ringed by cliffs. With few visitors and little infrastructure, Langshiang suits travellers willing to make a long drive into the western hills, often combined with Nongkhnum River Island.

Best Time to Visit
September to November
Monsoon (June to September) gives the most powerful flow, but roads and paths can be poor and views clouded. Post-monsoon (October to November) is the best balance of strong water, clearer skies and drier tracks. Winter (December to February) is dry and clear with a reduced fall. Spring (March to May) is warm and flow is lower before the rains. Start early from Shillong or Nongstoin and finish the walk well before dark.
