How we report travel updates
Who we are
Tour Meghalaya is a cab and tour company based on Jail Road, Shillong. Our drivers are on the roads to Sohra, Dawki, Guwahati and across Meghalaya every day. We publish travel updates — road closures, traffic restrictions, weather alerts, river conditions and festival dates — so visitors can plan around them. Updates are written and checked by our team (the Tour Meghalaya travel desk).
Where updates come from
- Government of Meghalaya press releases (Directorate of Information & Public Relations).
- Meghalaya Tourism’s official events calendar — the source for event dates, venues and timings.
- Local newspapers: The Shillong Times, Highland Post, Hub News, Syllad, EastMojo, and other outlets via Google News.
- What our own drivers see on the road.
Every update links to the reports it is based on.
How we verify
- An update is posted straight away only when it comes from a government source or the official events calendar, or when at least two independent outlets report the same thing.
- A single report, or one from a lesser-known site, is checked by our team before it goes up. Weaker reports wait for confirmation.
- Event dates are never guessed. Until they are officially announced we only say when an event usually happens.
- Updates expire when the closure, alert or event is over, and are marked “no longer current”.
How we use AI
We check sources three times a day with the help of software, and an AI model (Google Gemini) helps sort headlines and summarise articles into plain language. It may only use facts stated in the sources; place names it returns are checked against the source text, and anything not found there is removed. The verification rules above decide what gets published, and our team reviews anything less certain.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, tell us on WhatsApp (+91 98621 55705) or at hi@tourmeghalaya.com. We fix errors as soon as we confirm them and show the time of the last change on every update.
Independence
We run a cab and tour business, and our updates link to our services. We don’t accept payment to publish, change or remove an update, and we report closures and problems on routes we sell, too.
