About Khaddum Pieltleng Falls
Khaddum Pieltleng Falls, also called Khaddum Falls or Chympe Falls, is a waterfall near Khaddum village in East Jaintia Hills, in the Saipung-Lumshnong area. Water spreads over a broad rock face in a fan shape before dropping into a deep blue-green pool surrounded by forest and limestone cliffs. The falls are best known as the gateway to Krem Chympe, a long river cave in the limestone beyond Khaddum. Cavers of the Meghalaya Adventurers' Association mapped about 19 km of it during the 2016 Abode of the Clouds Expedition; inside are large rimstone pools (gours) and passages that need swimming or a raft. The nearby Wah Luka river is used as a camping spot. This is a trek, not a roadside stop. There is no public transport, no food or water near the falls, and the route through forest and over a hanging footbridge needs a local guide. It suits fit travellers with a full day to spare, ideally with a night in the area.

Best Time to Visit
October to March
October to March is the best window: trails are drier, river crossings are easier and the pool is clearest from November onwards. April and May are workable but warmer and can bring early storms. Avoid the monsoon (June to September), when trails are slippery, the river runs fast and cave entry is unsafe. Start the trek early in the morning so you finish in daylight.
